Damaged Valve Stem

Luckily the engine that had this valve was upgraded. This is a fine example of having the stage set for a disaster.

This exhaust valve was found in '95 VIN 444 with 5 miles on the engine. Fortunately for the owner, he decided to upgrade his engine with cylinder head porting. We made this shocking discovery when we removed the valves.

Maybe a valve manufacturing engineer could explain what happened?
